Limited Furniture Warranty Details
About this document
This document is detailed because the coverage we provide goes beyond the standard in our market, and we believe protection of that kind is worth setting down in full.
Coverage periods, the components covered, the standards we apply, and the claim process are each set out here, together with the limits of that coverage. Clear terms are fairer to both sides — customers know what they are getting before they buy, and our team applies the same standard to every case.
If you have any question about these terms, please ask your sales consultant before purchase, or contact our Service Department.
General Terms
- This limited warranty is provided by Home Quarters Furnishings and covers manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship only.
- The warranty period begins on the date of delivery or customer pickup.
- This warranty applies to the original purchaser only and is non-transferable. The original invoice number is required for all claims.
- This warranty covers normal residential use only. Commercial use, rental properties, and display or staging use are excluded.
- Where the original material is no longer produced at the time of repair or replacement, Home Quarters reserves the right to substitute materials of equal or better quality. Replacement fabric, leather, or wood finish may differ in colour and grain from the original.
- This warranty does not affect the customer's statutory rights under the BC Sale of Goods Act.
Coverage Periods
One year on furniture; three years on power mechanisms and HTL sofas; ten years on most mattressesAll Furniture (Standard Limited Warranty)
For one year from the date of delivery or pickup, Home Quarters repairs or replaces parts affected by defects in materials or workmanship at no charge. Applies to sofas, bed frames, case goods, dining tables and chairs, cabinetry, and hardware. Component-level detail for sofas is set out in Section 3.
Power Mechanisms on Motion Sofas
Covers the reclining mechanism, motor, transformer, switches, and hand control. The frame, upholstery, foam, and all other components of the sofa remain under the standard one-year term.
HTL Sofas (Complete Product)
HTL sofas carry three years of coverage across the entire product, including frame, mechanisms, fabric and leather, and hardware.
Mattresses (Most Models)
Most mattresses carry ten years of coverage against manufacturing defects. Some models carry five years or another term. The term that applies to your mattress is the one stated on your sales order and on the mattress label. Coverage detail and support requirements are set out in Section 4.
Floor Models & Clearance Items
Covered for one year, excluding any defect or damage present on the item at the time of purchase. Where a covered issue cannot be repaired, any exchange or store credit is calculated on the price actually paid, not the item's original value.
Merchandise Sold As-Is
No warranty of any kind applies. The customer accepts the condition of the product at the time of purchase.
Apart from the exceptions above, a single one-year limited warranty applies across all our furniture. Where an individual manufacturer provides longer coverage, the manufacturer's terms apply.
Sofa Warranty Details
What is and is not covered, component by component- Initial Creases: Light creases may appear in the fabric or leather from transport. These normally disappear on their own within a few weeks of regular use.
- Cushion Firmness: A new sofa usually feels firmer than showroom models, whose cushions have softened through months of trial. A new piece reaches a similar relaxed feel with everyday use.
- Floor Protection: Use floor protectors under the legs if the sofa sits on hardwood or delicate flooring.

Frame Structure
- Proper Use: Do not jump or throw yourself onto the sofa, and do not sit on armrests or backrests.
- Lifting: Move the sofa by lifting from the base. Never push or pull on armrests, and do not drag or tilt it across carpet or uneven floors.
- Even Seating: Use all seating positions evenly. After use, smooth the seat upholstery with your palm and plump back cushions to restore shape.
- Distance from Heat: Keep the sofa at least 50 cm from heat sources (radiators, heaters, dryers, fireplaces), and out of harsh direct sunlight.
- Leather Maintenance: Dust regularly with a clean white dry cloth or soft vacuum attachment. Blot water-soluble stains with diluted mild soap working in a gentle circular motion from outside in, then dry immediately.
- Fabric Maintenance: Dust regularly (including under cushions). Do not use stiff brushes. Dab stains gently with appropriate fabric cleaner.
- Do not allow children or pets to play on or around powered furniture, particularly with footrests extended.
- Ensure the surrounding area is clear before operating recliners, and keep hands and objects away from mechanism openings.
- Keep liquids away from electrical components. Unplug when cleaning or when not in use for extended periods.
- Stop use immediately if cords or plugs show damage or malfunction, and contact our service team.
Mattress Warranty Details
Most mattresses covered for 10 years, as stated on sales orders and law tagsA mattress warranty protects you against defects in design and construction rather than normal ageing. After years of flexing thousands of times, springs and foam naturally experience gradual softening and settling over a 7 to 10 year lifespan.
- Handles & Stitching: Torn handles, stitching pulled out of handles, or tears in fabric where handles attach.
- Coils & Wires: Coils or wires that are loose, broken, protruding, or ripping through fabric.
- Body Indentations: Body indentations measuring 1.5 inches or greater, where the mattress has been properly and continuously supported.
- Box Spring Structural Defects: Splits in wood frames, persistent squeaks or rattles, bent/loose center support rails, loose wire, or module stapling defects.
- The mattress must be continuously supported by a matching box spring or equivalent on an appropriate bed frame.
- For Queen and King sets, the frame must include a rigid centre support with at least 5 legs extending to the floor, or a rigid center support with at least 5 hardwood cross slats.
- Sagging or body indentations resulting from improper bed frame support are not covered.
- Body indentations of less than 1.5 inches, and normal gradual softening of foam/fillings.
- Any mattress that is stained, soiled, or unsanitary (a waterproof mattress protector is strongly recommended from day one).
- Comfort or firmness preference (comfort is subjective, not a manufacturing defect).
- Damage from liquids, burns, pets, tears, or bending/folding during transport.
- Mattresses where the law tag has been removed, preventing product identification.
Normal Material Characteristics
Inherent to natural materials and normal in everyday use — not defects under warranty- Natural Characteristics of Solid Wood: Wood is a natural living material. Grain variations, knots, subtle color shadings, and mineral streaks are unique natural signatures and part of authentic furniture design.
- Movement & Seasonal Gapping in Wood: Solid wood breathes, expanding and contracting with household humidity. Subtle expansion gaps in table extensions or filler leaves over seasons are natural and expected.
-
Natural Markings in Genuine Leather: Real leather possesses natural hallmarks:
- Brand Marks: Found on virtually every hide, ranging from letters to shapes.
- Vein Patterns: Visible marble-like markings around neck and spine.
- Healed Scars: Fine healed surface scars with full leather tensile strength.
- Wrinkles & Stretch Marks: Natural markings where the skin is loose.
- Bites & Pin Holes: Tiny natural insect hallmarks that do not affect durability.
- Natural Leather Stretch: Leather naturally softens, flexes, and relaxes with sitting, molding comfortably to your body over time.
- Initial Softening of Cushions: Foam cushions naturally settle and soften by approximately 10%–15% in the initial months of use.
- Directional Pile Shading in Fabrics: Textured fabrics like velvet or chenille display subtle light and dark directional shading depending on how light hits the pile.
- Certified USB Cable Use: Always use manufacturer-certified USB charging cords. Uncertified third-party cables risk electrical overheating and mechanism failure.

Care Recommendations
- Maintain consistent indoor humidity between 40% and 60% and protect pieces from direct radiant heat or harsh sunlight.
- Wipe wood surfaces with a dry microfiber cloth; use coasters and felt pads under lamps and heavy decor.
- Always lift furniture when repositioning; never drag across flooring or carpets.
- Blot liquid spills immediately with a dry cloth rather than rubbing.
- Avoid placing excessive weight or point-loads on drawer slides, open doors, and lift mechanisms.
